Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the 3 (three) components of social semiotic analysis, namely the discourse field, discourse participants, and discourse means in reporting on the evacuation of Indonesian citizens in the Sudan War on Kompas.com and Detik.com. This research uses a qualitative approach by Bogdan and Taylor in Lafexy J. This research uses the social semiotic analysis model of M.A.K Halliday. Consists of three concepts, namely the field of discourse, the tenor of discourse and the mode of discourse. The paradigm used in this research is the constructivist paradigm. The object of this research is the Sudanese War news text on the online news/media portals Kompas.com and Detik.com. The data sources that will be used in this research are primary and secondary. Primary data is obtained directly from the object under study, while secondary is data that is not obtained from the object under study. As a result of the analysis that has been carried out, it was found that the five news stories above are included in the straight news type and have high news value to be used as news. This news value will attract readers because they will see who (who) will be featured in the news. Emotion, this element concerns events that contain anger, sadness, empathy, sympathy, love, hatred, happiness or humor.
