Abstract

In the world of competitive basketball, efficiency and objectivity in the player selection process are critical factors for team success. The use of the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method enriched with rank-order centroid (ROC) weighting to optimise basketball player selection. The objective of this research is to develop a system capable of integrating various complex selection criteria into a structured decision framework, improving efficiency in player selection. The method combines the quantitative decision analysis technique SAW with the advantages of ROC in determining the relative weights of each criterion, enabling a more balanced judgement between the evaluated aspects. The results show that the system significantly improves efficiency in the selection process, providing a comprehensive score that reflects the player's overall potential. The test results indicate that the best alternative as a member of the Comets Scholar Basketball Team is alternative A4 on behalf of Muslim, who produces the highest preference value of 0.952 as the first rank.
